Position Profile:
The Director of Marketing Solutions & Business Intelligence will supervise a dynamic team of IT professionals who support Orvis’ multi-channel Marketing & BI organization. This individual will oversee and manage the development and support of applications including marketing analysis and reporting systems, catalog planning and circulation systems, and email planning and execution systems. Candidate will be leading and directing the Business Intelligence, Business Warehouse, Data Warehousing, and Business Objects initiatives for multiple channels and departments including Merchandising and Inventory. Candidate will also be accountable for the planning of overall BI Services offered to the business and ensuring future BI needs are captured, designed and provided in a timely and cost effective manner.
Company Interfaces:
The position reports to the Vice President IT Business Solutions and has direct supervisory responsibility for a team of approximately six IT professionals. They will interact regularly with multi-channel Marketing, Inventory, Merchandising, Retail, and Orvis senior management, and the Orvis IT organization in Vermont, Virginia, and the United Kingdom. The position will also manage the relationships with systems vendors of software, hardware and services.
Key Performance Measurements:
1. Contribute to Orvis' financial goals of growth and profitabiliy, through support of critical marketing business processes and marketing software
2. Implement new systems capabilities, as defined in support of strategic business initiatives
General Responsibilities:
Manage the projects, people, and communications of the Marketing Solutions & BI IT team, acting as the primary liaison between IT and the multi-channel Marketing, Merchandising, Inventory and Retail.
* Work with multi channels of management to identify, define, and prioritize IT investments required to meet the strategic objectives of the company
* Manage the strategic and tactical project plans of the team, setting schedules, resource assignments, and reporting status
* Ensure proper application of the IT project lifecycle
* Manage the activities and development of team members, working with them to set key performance measures, identifying professional development goals, and set priorities
* Manage the technology directions and tools of the team, ensuring that appropriate standards are set, maintained and followed
* Work with other IT leaders and teams to ensure proper application of technologies, integration, and use of resources
Qualifications Required:
The Director of Marketing Solutions & BI will have at least ten years of experience managing a team of IT professionals and will possess a deep knowledge of application and database development, including business intelligence and reporting, relational database design and data warehousing, programming languages and scripting, and the IT project development lifecycle. Specific knowledge and experience with Business Objects, Netezza, Unica, Microsoft SQL Server, and .Net, as well as with customer analytical systems and statistical methodologies is desired.
A Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university or its equivalent is required, and excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must. Experience working in a dynamic, Key Performance Measure-driven environment is a plus.
