Overview:
Room & Board is a national retailer of classic contemporary home furnishing. We are looking for a seasoned Retail Market Manager to build and manage a robust business in our Skokie store. This flagship location is fast paced and savvy filled with diverse and talent staff members energized by providing our customers with an extraordinary experience.
Our Retail Market Managers are responsible for the financial success of their market. They are keen merchants that will plan, develop and execute strategies to build market share. They are accountable for market sales (revenue generated in the store, website and 1-800 number for the market). This individual will also be responsible for merchandising the showroom to meet the unique needs of the customer base. They are the lead voice to corporate merchants, sharing customer feedback that builds an assortment fine-tuned to customers’ needs.
The Retail Market Manager will create an extraordinary experience for every customer at all points of interaction. This individual will inspire rich personal connections to the Room and Board brand that continues to create a growing base of loyal customers. They create meaningful store events or event sponsorships that provide opportunities for us to strengthen relationships with existing customers and reach new customers.
The Retail Market Manager is a gifted manager of others and will build a high caliber team of career-minded design/sales professionals. They will ensure that this talented and diverse team is confident in solution based selling and empowered to make decisions in the best interest of the customer.
Given the scope and expectations of this role we are seeking someone with a minimum of 10 years retail leadership experience. Historically we have found that our most successful leaders have left the high travel and feverish pace of Regional Manager roles for equal challenges, autonomy and rewards as Retail Market Managers at Room and Board.
The successful candidate will also bring a passion for mid-century/modern design. They understand the customers in their market, how they live and where they shop. They believe collaboration is more important that competition and foster this within the teams they manage. They take a strategic approach to achieving results and will use their understanding of the market, customers, and competition to build market share.
