DIRECTOR OF ANALYTICS

POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Analytics is responsible for creating strategic insights to improve business results based on thorough data analysis of web and customer data. These insights will be used to drive decisions across teams including but not limited to direct marketing, sephora .com, merchandising, and finance.
Along with these responsibilities, the successful candidate will be able to manage online customer data from end to end. He/she may also supervise the Web Analytics Manager and the Business Planning Manager. They will be a leader in analysis and forecasting the financial performance of the Direct business division, as well as understanding client behavior. (sephora.com).
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Work closely with cross-functional partners to forecast business performance.
* Develop financial scenarios to evaluate business decisions and potential marketing programs.
* Participate in the assessment of new business opportunities.
* Transform business questions into actionable analysis to provide recommendations based on deep understanding of customer behavior
* Participate in cross-functional teams for website re-design, new application launches, and site enhancements as a measurements expert, identifying reporting requirements, and evaluating post-launch reporting
* Understand page tagging and how data is captured within web analytics tool
* Develop automated reports and ad hoc requests that monitor customer behavior and provide a benchmark for actionable insights
* Understand all sources of customer information and partner with IT to optimize how data is utilized
* Manage relationships with cross-functional business partners by providing objective information derived from data to support their functional areas
* Design and implement tests that can be accurately measured to better understand how customers respond to various stimuli
* Manage a team of analysts
* Manage key portions of the Analytics budget, and manage vendor/consultant projects.
REQUIREMENTS
* Requires bachelor’s degree with at least 6 years of experience in a highly analytical environment
* Comfortable performing complex analyses to generate data driven insight
* Strong experience with data mining, forecasting, and statistical analytics tools, such as SAS, SQL, SPSS, Cognoz, Business Objects. SAS preferred.
* Experience with web analytics tools such as Coremetrics, Omniture, Web Trends, Visual Sciences
* Advanced Excel and Powerpoint experience
* Exceptional problem solving and analysis skills combined with the ability to communicate findings to all levels of an organization
* Superb attention to detail
* Experience working with multi-functional teams
* Ability to work with tight deadlines and handle multiple projects
* Ability to prioritize and execute
* Ability to synthesize information from a variety of sources to arrive at optimal solutions
* Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
* Ability to interact between technical development and business team to continually refine tracking in web analytics tool
* Superb data analysis skills, with the ability to extract and interpret data from various sources. Build an understanding of key business drivers such as email and web traffic trends.
* Ability to present complex findings to varies levels of the organization
* Clear understanding of budgets & P&L statements.
* Previous experience with catalog direct mail strategies a plus
