Job Description Director of eCommerce Product Development
Bluefly.com, a leading online merchant offering top designer and name brand apparel and accessories at significant
discounts, is seeking a driven Director of Online Retail Product Development to join their team. This position will
report to the SVP of eCommerce.
The Director of eCommerce Product Development will be responsible for increasing visitor conversion and site
satisfaction by introducing new site functionality, enhancing existing site features, and developing and enhancing
the customer’s buying experience -- including the user interface, search and navigation tools, and checkout.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Identify, plan, and implement strategic site enhancements to increase conversion, sales, and customer
satisfaction at Bluefly.com, leveraging internal resources and third party vendors.
• Initiate and foster strong cross-departmental partnerships with key stakeholders across the company,
particularly Online Retail Merchandising, Marketing, Customer Service and Technology.
• Analyze clickstream and sales data to evaluate user behavior and develop new initiatives.
• Initiate, design, analyze, and present projects, including ROI projections.
• Review, analyze, and evaluate current and proposed enhancements against business and customer
needs.
• Identify and evaluate potential third party vendors vs. in house solutions and negotiate agreements, work
cross-functionally with legal, planning and marketing to coordinate vendor relations
• Capture and derive requirements for execution, documentation and tracking. Conduct business analysis,
derive and document all business requirements, and create detailed feature specifications, including UI
design.
• Create, certify, and interpret web statistics with the objective of identifying trends and user behavior,
supporting business analysis efforts, and providing information to support business decisions.
• Define requirements for customer-facing site development based on customer feedback, site analytics data
and competitive analysis.
• Collaborate with the technology team throughout the development, QA and release process.
• Measure performance of new functionality after release.
• Optimize existing site functionality through multivariable and A/B split testing.
• Manage ongoing third-party service and technology relationships.
• Manage regular site satisfaction surveys.
• Oversee daily site updates and publishing process, including all site content management, as dictated by
the merchandising calendar.
Qualifications:
• BA/BS degree
• Minimum 5-7 years eCommerce experience; retail or direct marketing experience a plus
• Familiarity with online research tools and internet commerce vendors for platforms, payment, search, and
marketing
• Knowledge of or experience with ATG Commerce or Endeca a plus.
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Creative problem-solving skills
• Experience with or training in retail analytics
• Strong computer skills (including Excel, Access, Project, Powerpoint) and
• Extensive knowledge of web technologies, including JavaScript, HTML, CSS as well as content
management systems, testing and analytics technologies.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and aggressive deadlines while working in fun, fast paced environment
