Job Description
The position of District Visual Merchandiser contributes to REI’s ongoing success by providing visual expertise and leadership to retail stores to support and oversee implementation of merchandising, marketing and visual programs for the retail channel. This position will be based in Chicago, IL supporting the Midwest Retail Market. Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding principles.
Responsibilities
• Ensures corporate Visual direction is implemented on a timely basis, within expected standards and maintained for specified time periods in assigned stores.
• Provides direction and guidance regarding program implementation adaptations as needed based on individual store configurations or space challenges.
• Supports merchandising and marketing program execution through training, hands-on support and collaboration with store teams.
• Collaborates with Store Managers and Retail Directors to maintain and evolve understanding and support of in-store Merchandising, Marketing and Visual programs.
• Provides visit recap evaluations of store specific Visual Merchandising strengths and opportunities.
• Provides regular, consistent feedback to the Retail Director on opportunities for the growth and development of Visual Merchandising in the district and actively offering solutions.
• Partners with the Market Planner to maximize store square footage and leverage assortment sizes to drive sales.
• Evaluates the success of merchandise presentations through consistent use of appropriate sales measurement tools.
• Reviews and makes recommendations regarding Category Management floor plans for existing and new stores.
• Ensures store projects are executed in positive and productive fashion.
• Supports and communicates company fixture and signage strategies and directives to Visual Fixture Supervisor.
• Collaborates with store management teams and Visual Specialists to identify future fixture and display-ware needs and capital requests.
• Supports existing store fixture inventory and asset transfer process. Communicates fixture asset transfers and changes through specified process.
• Coaches and supports Visual Specialists and store teams to ensure ongoing development of their individual visual merchandising skill sets.
• Fosters and develops strong partnerships with District Outreach and Events Administrators to ensure appropriate planning and implementation of programs intended for in store implementation.
• Contributes content to Field team tools library (i.e. Share Point, Snaplink) on a regular basis via visual communications system.
• Maintains District Visual Merchandiser travel calendar and partners with manager on annual budget planning for travel and training.
Qualifications
• 5+ years proven visual merchandising or display experience at corporate level and/or in a high-end retail multi-store environment
• Demonstrated strategic thinking skills with broad understanding of retail concepts.
• Project management skills including measurement, reporting and financial analysis.
• Ability to travel regionally approximately 80% of the time
• Experience with space planning as it relates to visual merchandising.
