Job Description
ART DIRECTOR – DIRECT MARKETING Imagine the impact you could have driving the strategic creative concept as an Art Director with REI Marketing. Recognized year after year as being one of Forbes Magazines “100 Best Company’s To Work For” we are seeking a Marketing Art Director to contribute creative and leadership talents to the Direct Marketing Team. As the creative manager of 4 designers you will provide conceptual direction, orchestrate the design and creative execution of marketing materials from job inception through pre-press proofing. This role will showcase your superior leadership skills as you provide direction and mentorship to your team; successfully navigate the organization; strategically partner with business leaders in Online, Merchandise, Retail and Public Affairs creating innovative solutions meeting the teams business objectives. Job Overview: The Art Director, Direct Marketing – contributes to REI’s success by leading the creative development of REI’s direct mail advertising materials to drive sales and build the REI brand. Key collateral includes catalogues and direct mail. Ensures graphics, layouts, code and other deliverables produced by the marketing design team are consistent and meet defined standards. This role will ensure a final product which is strategically aligned with project briefs and REI brand objectives, design elements and photography are consistently executed through all phases. Works cross-divisionally with leaders to develop effective partnerships. Requirements: 5+ years in graphic design/ creative industry -Demonstrated knowledge in creating current and effective communications through all avenues of Marketing -Experience working within wide variety of visual styles- -Superior conceptual ability and creative leadership skills -Advanced knowledge of graphic arts production process -Demonstrated experience providing creative direction to studio photographers with outline and environmental sets. -Knowledge and understanding of color proofing for pre-press required. -Proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop and Freehand/Illustrator. -Demonstrated knowledge in creating current and effective communications through all avenues of print execution – from multi-page formats to packaging. -Portfolio demonstrating depth and breath of creative design abilities 3+ years experience in supervision of staff employees -Experience building capacity of individuals and teams through effective employee development, involvement and communication required -Well-honed team management, time and process management skills -Establishes trust and inspires others. -Experience delivering performance reviews and delivering timely and constructive feedback Recreation is our business, and REI offers a great work environment that balances hard work with time off to play.
